Enzyme alternatives for medical device companies

The best alternatives to Enzyme, ranked by overall score.

Enzyme’s design controls take their data from Jira, which suits software-driven device teams. Since Greenlight Guru bought the company in July 2025, the question for buyers and existing customers is what happens next: neither company has said whether Enzyme stays a separate product.1 Prices, hosting and documentation are further reasons to look around. Here’s what our evidence shows, which alternative fits which situation, and when Enzyme remains a reasonable choice.

Why teams look for Enzyme alternatives

An unclear future. Greenlight Guru promised Enzyme customers “continuity” and a clear roadmap, but hasn’t published one.1 The product still gets releases, the latest in September 2026.2 Apart from an acquisition banner, the website hasn’t changed since mid-2025.3

No prices. Enzyme prices by plan and by Full and Lite users, and sends you to a request form.4 It last published prices in 2022.5 Its terms allow implementation fees, and the SOP library costs extra.67

US-only hosting. Enzyme’s services are hosted and operated entirely in the US. We found no public DPA or subprocessor list.8

Closed documentation. The help center is now for customers only. The public how-to articles we found are archived copies from 2020, for an earlier version.9

Uncapped renewals. The public terms let Enzyme raise prices at renewal with 30 days’ notice, with no cap.6

Which alternative fits your situation

You want to stay with Enzyme’s new owner: Greenlight Guru

Greenlight Guru syncs design controls with Jira and GitHub and offers IEC 62304-aligned release management through Ultralight, the other QMS company it bought in 2025.1011 Its complaint handling includes a step for deciding whether a regulatory report is needed.12 You can export quality records in standard formats without paying for services, and you have 90 days after the contract ends to request an export.1314 The entry price is $12,000 a year, but Vendr reports a median of $43,989, renewal increases aren’t capped, and there’s no free trial.131514

Your engineers live in Jira and Git: Ketryx

Ketryx syncs requirements, software items, tests and risks from Jira, Git and test tools and generates the design history file from them.16 You can start a 30-day trial without a credit card, and the DPA is public.1718 A full project exports as a JSON archive.19 Paid plans are contact-sales, and we found no documented supplier, internal audit or production record workflows, so it works best next to an existing eQMS.2021

You want published prices: Matrix Requirements

Matrix Requirements publishes prices: Matrix Req Team Plus (6 users included) plus ten Matrix Quality licences comes to about $25k a year (October 2026).2223 You can start a Matrix Req trial yourself, and it links issues to Jira, GitHub, GitLab and Azure DevOps.2425 The catch is that design controls and quality processes are two products on different platforms, and Matrix Quality’s hosting region isn’t documented.23

You need EU hosting and documented quality workflows: Qualio

Qualio hosts on AWS in Dublin and publishes its DPA and subprocessor list.262728 Its design controls include Jira, with GitHub, GitLab and Azure DevOps through a paid add-on.29 The help center documents the CAPA workflow, including reopening a CAPA when its effectiveness check fails.30 Like Enzyme, it doesn’t publish prices: we estimate $12,000–30,000 a year for 10 people, and every plan carries an implementation fee.3029

When to stay with Enzyme

Enzyme still has strengths, and switching takes work:

  • Jira-fed design controls. Jira issues flow into design-control records, with Xray test executions and design-review stages.2
  • Generated exports. A trace matrix export and the Design and Development File, renamed in February 2026 for the FDA’s QMSR.2
  • Your own editors. Documents stay in Google Docs or Microsoft Office, edited inside Enzyme.3132
  • Still maintained. 23 releases between July 2025 and September 2026.2
  • Flexible terms on paper. The 2018 terms let you cancel at any time, with a prorated refund on longer terms.6

If you stay, ask Greenlight Guru for its roadmap and support commitment for Enzyme in writing, and agree how you’d get all your data out if the product is retired.

Why people switch: Its owner hasn't said what happens to Enzyme after the 2025 acquisition, prices aren't published, data is hosted in the US only, and the help center is now for customers only. Read our Enzyme review.

  1. 1

    OpenRegulatory Formwork

    OpenRegulatory (OpenReg GmbH), $7k/yr

You're an early-stage device startup, especially one building software, and want a cheap, self-serve QMS with templates and linked requirements, risks and tests.Watch out: Complaints are logged as incidents with no documented investigation step, and we found no internal audit planning, UDI or DMR/DHR features. The vendor has no ISO 27001 certification and offers no audit rights.

    7.8out of 10
  2. 2

    Matrix Requirements (Matrix One)

Matrix One (Matrix Requirements GmbH), from $25k/yr

You build software or software-heavy devices and need design controls, risk and test traceability tied to your QMS.Watch out: A full QMS takes two products from Matrix One: Matrix Req, plus Matrix Quality, a Salesforce-based eQMS acquired in 2026 and priced separately.

    7.5out of 10
  3. 3

    Greenlight Guru

    Greenlight Guru, from $12k/yr

You build a medical device, want design controls, ISO 14971 risk and quality events linked in one MedTech-only system, and can budget well above the entry price.Watch out: Users report the bill growing quickly as the team grows, and implementation is charged on top of the subscription.

    7.4out of 10
  4. 4

    Cognidox

Cognidox Ltd (part of Recur Software), from $8k/yr

You run a small or mid-sized device company, want strong document control with Part 11 e-signatures at a low price, and are happy to shape your own CAPA, change and supplier forms.Watch out: Complaints, supplier, audit and design controls are thinly documented and largely document- or form-based. The validation pack and SSO are unpriced add-ons, and the LMS needs the Scale tier or an add-on.

    7.2out of 10
  5. 5

    SimplerQMS

    SimplerQMS A/S, from $17.5k/yr

You run a small or mid-sized device or pharma company, write your SOPs in Microsoft Word, and want implementation, validation and training included in one yearly price.Watch out: Design controls, risk and software lifecycle are managed as documents with no native traceability, and contracts auto-renew with a 90-day notice period and a 5% yearly price rise.

    7.0out of 10
  6. 6

    Qualio

    Qualio, Inc., est. $12–30k/yr

You're a growing device or combined device-and-pharma company that wants a QMS your whole team will actually use, with design controls linked to Jira and data hosted in the EU.Watch out: Prices aren't published, every plan carries an implementation fee, and complaint handling, vigilance reporting and production records aren't dedicated features.

    6.8out of 10
  7. 7

    Intellect QMS

    Interneer, Inc. (Intellect), from $26k/yr

You run a medical device or combined device-and-pharma manufacturing operation and want a configurable QMS that your quality team can adapt without code, with workflows for nonconformances, CAPA, suppliers and device history records.Watch out: Design controls, ISO 14971 risk files and IEC 62304 are barely covered, apps beyond the core five are add-ons, and there is no trial, no public contract and no documented exit export.

    6.7out of 10
  8. 8

    Orcanos

    Orcanos Ltd., pricing on request

You build a software-heavy or electromechanical device and want requirements, risk, tests and QMS records traced in one system rather than two tools joined by an integration.Watch out: Prices are not published, and supplier, audit, nonconformance and complaint workflows are described mainly on marketing pages rather than in the help center.

    6.7out of 10
  9. 9

    Arena QMS

Arena, a PTC business, est. $12–25k/yr

You build physical medical devices with outsourced manufacturing and want CAPA, complaints, training and design records linked to the same BOM and change orders as your engineering data.Watch out: Pricing is quote-only with paid implementation and validation add-ons. There is no risk register, IEC 62304 support or electronic regulatory reporting.

    6.5out of 10
  10. 10

    Ketryx

    Ketryx Corporation, pricing on request

You build software as a medical device, your engineers live in Jira and Git, and you want design controls, risk and IEC 62304 records generated from that work.Watch out: We found no documented supplier, internal audit, DMR/DHR or vigilance-reporting workflows, so most device companies will run it next to another eQMS.

    6.5out of 10
  11. 11

    QT9 QMS

QT9 Software, Inc., pricing on request

You make physical devices or other regulated products, need nonconformance, supplier and audit control across sites, and want one licence that includes every module.Watch out: Prices aren't published, renewals can rise without a cap, and design controls, risk files and software development have little documented support.

    6.5out of 10
  12. 12

    Ideagen Quality Management

    Ideagen, est. $22–28k/yr

You make physical devices or combination products, want proven CAPA, audit, supplier and document workflows with Part 11 signatures, and handle design controls and risk files elsewhere.Watch out: Design controls, ISO 14971 risk files, vigilance reporting and IEC 62304 support aren't documented as product features, and the standard agreement defaults to 24 months with automatic renewal unless the order form says otherwise.

    6.4out of 10
  13. 13

    Scilife

    Scilife NV, pricing on request

You run a GMP-regulated pharma, biotech or combined device and pharma operation and want an easy-to-learn eQMS with validation documents included.Watch out: Device-specific features are thin: risk isn't linked to design controls, complaints use a generic events workflow, and there's no Jira or Git integration.

    6.3out of 10
  14. 14

    ZenQMS

    ZenQMS LLC, pricing on request

You run quality at a pharma, biotech, CRO or CDMO company, perhaps with a combination product, and want configurable workflows, strong validation support and no per-seat fees.Watch out: It isn't built for medical device design controls, prices aren't published, an implementation fee has applied to every contract, and data is hosted in the US only.

    6.0out of 10
  15. 15

    Dot Compliance

Dot Compliance Ltd., pricing on request

You run a device, pharma or combination-product company and want a pre-configured GxP quality system on Salesforce that goes live in weeks to a few months.Watch out: Prices, contract terms and data export aren't published, and there's no documented support for software development (IEC 62304) or developer tools.

    5.8out of 10
  16. 16

    ETQ Reliance (Octave Reliance)

Octave Intelligence plc (formerly ETQ), pricing on request

You run a multi-site medical device or combined device and pharma manufacturer and want one configurable system for documents, CAPA, complaints with eMDR, suppliers and audits across sites.Watch out: There's no design-controls, ISO 14971 risk-file or IEC 62304 module, prices and contract length aren't published, and Octave says customer data is hosted in AWS GovCloud (US).

    5.3out of 10
  17. 17

    Veeva Vault QMS

Veeva Systems Inc., pricing on request

You run a large or multi-site device, diagnostics or combined device-and-pharma company and want quality processes, documents and training on the same platform as your regulatory and clinical systems.Watch out: Prices aren't published, and design controls, UDI submissions and vigilance reporting need separate Veeva products, so small device teams pay enterprise prices for a partial QMS.

    5.3out of 10
  18. 18

    MasterControl

    MasterControl Solutions, Inc., est. $25–72k/yr

You run a larger, multi-site device or combined device-and-pharma quality organisation and need a configurable, validated system for documents, training, CAPA and audits.Watch out: Prices, hosting location and exit terms aren't published, and design controls, risk files and software development support are weak for device R&D teams.

    5.1out of 10
  19. 19

    TrackWise Digital

Sparta Systems, Inc. (Honeywell), pricing on request

You run quality for a larger device, diagnostics or combined device-and-pharma company and want proven complaint, CAPA, eMDR and risk workflows on a validated cloud platform.Watch out: Prices and hosting region aren't published, there are no design controls, and the contract renews for 36 months unless you give notice.

    5.1out of 10
  20. 20

    Qualityze

    Qualityze Inc., pricing on request

You make physical devices or combine devices and pharma, already use Salesforce or want to, and need configurable complaint, vigilance, CAPA and supplier workflows across several sites.Watch out: Design controls and FMEA are still unreleased roadmap items, there are no public prices, terms, DPA or hosting details, and many reviews were posted in year-end bursts.
