JMI Equity invests more than $120M in Greenlight Guru

Growth investor JMI Equity invested more than $120 million in Greenlight Guru in June 2021. Greenlight Guru has since bought four companies and still describes itself as backed by JMI Equity.

“Software-focused growth investment firm JMI Equity invested more than $120 million” in Greenlight Guru, MedCity News reported in June 2021.1 Greenlight Guru’s earlier funding was a $1.25 million seed round from individual angel investors in 2015.2

Since the investment, Greenlight Guru has bought four companies: Vertex Intelligence (May 2022), SMART-TRIAL (June 2022), Ultralight Labs (June 2025) and Enzyme (July 2025).3 In June 2025 it still described itself as “Backed by JMI Equity”.4 Ownership percentages aren’t public.

What it means for buyers

Our Greenlight Guru review notes that the agreement lets Greenlight Guru raise fees at each renewal with 90 days’ notice and no cap, and that its pricing page has shown a starting price only since 2026.
