MasterControl doesn’t publish prices on its own site. Its pricing page asks you to contact sales and says licences are per named user.1 Its plan comparison lists which modules come in each package, but no amounts.2 Our figure is an estimate from listing sites, an old vendor price list and a price benchmark.

Packages and what a device team needs

MasterControl’s quality product, Quality Excellence, comes in three packages:2

  • Basic: document control, change control and analytics.
  • Standard: adds training.
  • Complete: adds quality events, risk and audit management.

A device company needs Complete for CAPA, nonconformances and audits. Device history records sit in a separate product, Manufacturing Excellence.3 MasterControl also sells a preconfigured “Qx Starter” package for young companies, without a published price.4

Price signals

  • Capterra and Software Advice list Basic “Starting at $25,000.00 per year”, with Standard and Complete on request (September 2026).5 TrustRadius lists the same starting price.6
  • MasterControl’s own 2019 price list charged $109, $169 or $199 per user per month for its “Spark” starter kits. The All Access kit (documents, training and CAPA) came to about $24,000 a year for 10 users. The page added: “Pricing varies with your implementation and validation needs.”7
  • Vendr shows a median of $115,673 a year, from $72,339 to $116,837, based on only four purchases by two buyers. One buyer has 201–1000 employees.8

We estimate $25,000–72,000 a year for 10 users of Complete. The floor is the listed Basic price, which matches the 2019 per-user list for 10 users. The top is the lowest Vendr contract. Vendr’s buyers are larger than 10 people, so treat the top as a rough upper bound.578

Fees on top

  • Implementation. Sold separately. MasterControl markets “affordable implementation packages” for Qx Starter but publishes no price.4
  • Validation services. The Validation Excellence Tool and Validation on Demand are included at no extra cost.9 Extra validation services come as an annual or quarterly subscription bundle.10
  • Storage and licence overage. The terms let MasterControl invoice you if you exceed the storage or the number of licences in your quote.11

What a 10-person team pays

Expect to pay inside our $25,000–72,000 range for Complete, plus implementation in the first year. Licences are per named user, and the only published per-user prices (2019) were flat, with no volume tiers.17 So cost rises roughly in line with headcount unless you negotiate volume pricing. You can’t reduce the number of licences during a term.11

Price history and renewals

  • List prices. MasterControl hasn’t published list prices since 2019. Archived pricing pages from 2023 onward show none.712
  • Renewal terms. Subscriptions renew automatically at “then-current fees”, unless the parties agree otherwise. The terms set no cap. MasterControl sends a detailed renewal estimate at least 60 days before the term ends.11 It can also change or discontinue modules at the end of a term.11
  • User reports. One Vendr buyer reports a 7% yearly uplift at renewal, cut to 5% by signing for two years.8 A Capterra reviewer at a device company reported a steep cost increase in July 2025 after the move to cloud and named-user licences.13 A G2 reviewer at a device company wrote in 2022 that a licence change “increases fees”.14 On TrustRadius, 24% of recent reviewers raise cost concerns, especially for smaller businesses.15

Contract length and exit

The term is set in each quote, and MasterControl publishes no standard length.11 Renewals are automatic for the same length.11

On written request after the contract ends, you get “an electronic file containing the Client Data”. The format isn’t stated.11 An API Toolkit can move data in and out.16 The terms have no escrow or insolvency clause, and MasterControl can transfer the contract to a buyer without your consent.11

How MasterControl compares on price

  • Greenlight Guru publishes a starting price of $12,000 a year. We estimate $12,000–30,000 a year for 10 people, plus implementation.17
  • Qualio publishes no price. We estimate $12,000–30,000 a year for 10 people, plus a mandatory implementation fee.18
  • Ideagen Quality Management advertises its medical device pack at “below £20,000 per year”. We estimate $22,000–29,000 a year for 10 users before validation, from its UK government price list.19
